Budweiser: Bring Back The Frogs | Super Bowl Ad
Posted 8 years ago
The most memorable ads are usually the simplest and what’s simpler than 3 frogs in a swamp croaking the brand name repeatedly?
The Budweiser frogs became more famous than any other amphibians in 1995 (they even have a Wikipedia page dedicated to them!) by not really doing much besides being part of a great marketing strategy that was put in play by Anheuser-Busch, the parent brand of Budweiser.
The trio of frogs that featured in the ad garnered a huge fan base after their Super Bowl XXIX appearance. The ad also shows other creatures in the swamp being jealous of ‘Bud’ ‘Weis’ and ‘Er.’ Two lizards, Louie and Frankie, feature besides a ferret in a continuing series of the same ad campaign.
Long story short, the lizards soon replaced the frogs and Budweiser even released a CD titled ‘Frank & Louie’s Greatest Hits’. Why someone would buy a CD sung by 2 animated lizards is beyond me, but it’s clear to see how diligently the marketing team at Anheuser-Busch worked towards building the Budweiser’s brand. The ad may be simple, but one cannot deny its creativity. It’s definitely become a classic and people all over the world have occasionally confessed how much they miss the 3 frogs and want Anheuser-Busch to #bringbackthefrogs!
