Make Love Not Scars | Beauty Tips
Posted 7 years ago
NGO Make Love Not Scars and marketing giant Ogilvy & Mather’s collaborated on an extremely relevant campaign that is pertinent to India. They launched a series of satirical videos in which an acid attack survivor named Reshma shares beauty tips with her audience. At the end she points out how make-up can be easily applied and cosmetic products bought at a cheap price. But the cost of ruining someone’s life comes cheaper. Acid in India is sold for as cheap as Rs 30, cheaper than a bottle of Coke.
When acid, mostly hydrochloric or sulphuric, comes in contact with human flesh it causes skin tissue to melt and can even dissolve bones. Besides this, victims of acid attacks suffer from a host of other side effects such as loss of eyesight and hearing. Worst of all, they have to live with the pain of having to survive in a body that is severely disfigured.
India records as many as 1000 cases of acid attack every year (many more probably go unrecorded). Make Love Not Scars as an NGO is doing great work to raise awareness against this horrendous situation that we find ourselves in today, and this campaign is the perfect example of what have accomplished.
In three separate minute-long videos, Make Love Not Scar’s bring forth a message that needs to be heard by millions of Indians.
